The Arizona Mazda Club would like to recognize Bill, Rednecks_r_us, as our October member of the month!
Bill’s history with AZMC goes back to the beginning of the club as well as him being one of the original mAZdasport members. Since then, Bill has been one of the major leaders of AZMC including serving two years as President.

Bill’s unique style and laid back attitude have made him one of AZMC’s most recognized members as well as being the host of the club’s annual Mingus Mountain run! Despite Bill being located in Prescott, he’s always managed to remain highly active within the club.
Bill’s long term service to the Arizona Mazda Club as well as his steadfast dedication to everything Mazda is the reason why we are recognizing him as our member of the month.

Bill’s Mazda isn’t any ordinary Protégé 5. This stunning ride coated in laser blue and black mica custom paint has plenty of show and go. His P5 contains some great media items including Sony and Pioneer stereo equipment while having plenty of performance parts including the Injen CAI, MP3 ECU, Magnaflow Exhaust and 5zigen wheels!
Be sure to check out Bill's Protege 5 here!

» AZMC Rocks Dezod West Time Attack |
If you live in Arizona, you know that summer time means it’s HOT.
If you think it was hot on Saturday, you should have been at Firebird Raceway where the cars were nearly on fire racing in the first annual DezodWest Time Attack!
Racers from all over the valley and state gathered to show their skills on the 1.1 mile Firebird West road course on May 31st with the weather forecast expecting 100 degrees or higher during the day. The Arizona Mazda Club was there in force with the largest single club showing in both the race and show divisions.

The event started early Saturday morning as racers and show cars gathered at the gates for registration. DezodWest officials quickly got people checked in and lined up for the tech process. AZMC had Camp Mazda up and running with the help of those showing while those who were racing could get the car prepared for the event. Several empty cars and gallons of race gas later, AZMC was checked in and ready to hit the track.

The first practice session had novice drivers with limited to no racing experience riding with an instructor to give them pointers on how to drive the course and how to drive the best time they could. This session was cut a little short due to time concerns. The second session had all drivers out on the track by themselves pushing it to the max. Since this session ran longer, many drivers were finding their cooling systems being taxed because of the high heat and their tires becoming sloppy from the hot track. Still, the second session yielded new things to work on and challenges to overcome.

The time attack event came and went rather easily. Cars were grouped according to time so several could be on the track at once. Each driver got a single warm up lap, two hot laps that were timed, and a cool down lap.
A couple AZMC members were faced with technical issues, others with heating problems but overall no accidents or driving awards were given. Chris Largent (Blustreak) was awarded First Place in his stock AWD division and George was awarded First in the RWD stock class. Both drivers put down excellent times.

Other drivers who participated in the race were Eldudo, Unique8, MazdaManiac, Easy_E1, and Werm. AZMC members who participated in the show portion were Hund, Lazybusinssman, Azlizard, yale02, speed-demon13, Chickenwafer, and Jspeed. Chickenwafer was awarded 1st place for his Mazda RX8, Werm 2nd place for his Mazda6, and Jspeed was awarded 3rd place for his Mazdaspeed 6.

AZMC wishes to thank everyone at Dezodwest, AZsolo, NASA, and anyone else who helped make this event possible. We look forward to returning next year!

» AZMC attends NASA/UMS Mega Event |
While American’s everywhere were celebrating Memorial Day weekend by firing up their BBQ’s amateur and professional racers from across the country gathered in Phoenix for the NASA Mega Event!

A road racing event wouldn't be complete without a little zoom-zoom action and AZMC was ready to provide just that. Arizona Mazda Club member MazdaManiac put his 2004 Turbocharged RX8 to the test in NASA's HPDE 1 group racing on Firebird Raceway's main course. MazdaManiac was against some powerful vehicles but was able to leave them in the dust during the event while seeing speeds upwards of 128 mph!

The HPDE event put drivers to the test as well as throwing them in night time racing as their final session took place at 9pm when the only thing that lit the road was headlights and exhaust flames.
On the other side of the course, AZMC members Easy_E1, EVLTSTR, and Flashwing particpated in NASA's Hyper Drive event which put novice racers on the west road course with an instructor for 15 action packed minutes.
When the Mazda's were not ripping down the track, AZMC members wandered the race paddock where racing superstar Christian Rado was racing his Scion TC in the Modified Magazine Time Attack shootout! Also a few famous vehicles made a showing including the COBB Skyline R35 GTR, and COBB's Mazdaspeed 3.
AZMC wants to thank UMS for the opportunity to be part of this event, as well as NASA for bringing racing to Phoenix for an awesome weekend!
